In schedule before the official end of the project, the last products of the E-Learn-ViP/C4EA project are finally produced and are ready for download. The example graphical user interfaces can be downloaded from the download area of our website. Those example environments should give the reader an impression about a probable setup and design of accessible e-learning systems. The files are provided as self extracting files, or as tagged PDF files. The example CBT was developed in context of a diploma thesis by Mr. Sebastian Starke. In this sample CBT is explained how to design an accessible CBT and how to implement Access Keys.

Now you also can find the final versions of our rating system and the various guidelines in French, Danish and Dutch languages in the specific Download areas.

In September the CD-ROM with more than 250 Megabyte data about the project, will be released. The documents on the CD are also provided as tagged PDF and Open Document Format. Corresponding to the decision of the EC, the project consortium supports the idea of the OASIS/ODF Open Document Format, to create documents which are independent accessible from the utilized word processor.

Finally the central products of the E-Learn-ViP/C4EA project are produced and ready for download. The accessibility guidelines for e-learning systems have been now released in four parts, two month before scheduled time-plan. Due to the complexity and diversity of the different systems, the project consortium decided to split the guidelines in separate parts.

In part one of these guidelines, the common accessibility requirements for all systems are explicitly pointed out. In part 2 to 4 the specific requirements for Learn-Management Systems, CBT/WBT and VCS are explained.

The guidelines are now available in English and German version for download in the download area of the project website..

Vom 16. bis 17. Juni 2006 findet der dritte und abschliessende Workshop des Projektes E-Learn-ViP beim Berufsfoerderungsinstitut in Graz statt. Eroeffnet wird dieses letzte Arbeitstreffen mit einer oeffentlichen Konferenz zur Vorstellung der erreichten Projektergebnisse und zur Konzeption des Europaeischen Konsortiums zur Barrierefreiheit von E-Learning Produkten. Auf dieser Konferenz werden kompetente Gastredner zur Integrationssituation von Blinden und Sehbehinderten auf dem Arbeitsmarkt, der Bedeutung des Blended Learning in der beruflichen Aus- und Weiterbildung sowie zu beispielhaften E-Learning Angebote im Bundes Blindeninstituts Wien referieren. Die Konferenz bietet den Teilnehmern Gelegenheit Fragen an die Experten zu stellen und Erfahrungen auszutauschen. Die Konferenzsprache ist Englisch. Die Teilnahme ist kostenlos. Eine Voranmeldung beim bfi Steiermark ist jedoch erforderlich. Interessenten werden gebeten sich per E-Mail bei der Projektleitung anzumelden.

From May 17th to 19th the BFW Dueren and Halle are presenting their services on the trade fair Sight City in Frankfurt. This fair is specialized to services and devices for people with visually handicaps. In the past years the SightCity reaches increasing importance for visitors and exhibitors, due to the specific subject. One advantage for visitors is that it offers free entrance and is easy to reach with public transportation. This year about 90 exhibitors are represented on the fair, which is located in the Sheraton Airport hotel in Frankfurt. Many exhibitors demonstrate new and innovative electronic devices, which improve the private or professional situation of people with visual handicaps.

So far this fair is also a good platform for the BFW to present the projects E-Learn-ViP, See-ViP and PROVIPTRAIN to an interested audience. As a matter of fact there were several providers of accessibility web portals and training institutes interested in these projects. All interested visitors could be informed in detail by the present project staff members and were provided with leaflets of the projects. You can find the exhibition stand of the BFW Dueren and Halle in room 1031 on the fair. We are looking forward to inform you about our services and projects.

The last releases of the Rating systems about accessibility for VCS, LMS and CBT/WBT are now available on the download page of the E-Learn-ViP website. Alterations and updates were made due to the experiences made during the tests of available systems. Main focus was also put to the usability of the rating system.

The E-Learn-ViP project was selected by the National Agency of Germany to present the project during an information conference for the new E-Learning Call of the European Commission on April 25th. This conference should give interested applicants an overview about the adminitsrative aspects of the application process and project management.

On march 23rd and 24th the OIO - Conference concerning digitalization of the Danish public sector, took place in Arhus Denmark. On this conference the Danish Institute for the Blind and partially sighted, was introducing the E-learn-VIP-project to the largest providers of ICT -services to the Danish public sector. The aim was to promote the project to 2 very important target groups. The providers of e-services and the people in charge of the finances.

On March 30th the project coordinator was invited to participate via Online conference in a workshop which was carried out by the Czech National Agency for the SOCRATES programme of the EC. This workshop was carried out for representatives of Universities and authorities, which are interested to apply projects in the new e-learning programme.

The coordinator of E-Learn-ViP was interviewed about several details of the project aims, the management of project-cooperation and the administrative efforts in EC projects.
