Objectives
The main objective of this project is to enable blind people and people with visual handicaps the access to e-learning courses. This objective will be achieved by three further objectives:
1. To evaluate existing e-learning courses in all countries of the partner-organisations by unique measures, considering the special needs of people with visual handicaps concerning:
- the accessibility of all components in an e-learning environment
- the methodological adoption of provided e-learning courses
- the availability of special educated Tele-Coaches corresponding to the methodological needs and the technical necessary assistant devices commonly used by visually impaired persons.
2. To publish these results with detailed description of the available courses and service providers of e-learning services for visually impaired persons on a national and transnational level via website, conferences, trade press and trade fair. Interested service-providers, distributors and developers of e-learning platforms, -media and software are as well involved in this information as training centres for people with visual handicaps and their self-help organisations (e.g. Federations for the blind). A web-based platform will provide a database with all known, for the target group available e-learning courses in the countries of the project partners. These information will be structured and rated by the degree of accessibility, variety of courses and the focused graduation of the courses.
3. To develop an innovative guideline for service-providers and for developer of multimedia and e-learning platforms. These guidelines consider the essential elements of an e-learning platform which are the learn-management-system, video conference system and the multimedia learning-contents.
